Define Church: Prayer
Today we conclude our sermon series, Define: Church, which is based upon Acts 2:43, “They devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.” This morning we're going to explore what it meant for the early Church to devote themselves to prayer. What is prayer, anyway? Why is it important? What should we be praying for? How often should we pray? Does prayer really work? These are the types of questions we will examine; and I pray we will walk away with a little more understanding about what it means for us to devote ourselves to prayer.

    Define Church: Breaking Bread
Today we continue our sermon series, Define: Church. The early Church devoted themselves to a few powerful things, as we’ve seen these past few weeks. One thing they devoted themselves to was “the breaking of bread,” which may seem so inconsequential, but really was so meaningful. On a number of different levels, ranging from the basic to the profound, “the breaking of bread” was transformative for the first century believers; and this same practice remains the same for us today, when we take time to remember this is literally an essential of the bread and butter of our faith.

    Define Church: Apostles’ Teaching
Today we begin our new sermon series, Define: Church. What, or better yet, who is the Church? Why do we exist? What are we called to do? Who are we called to be? Where are we called to go and who are we called to serve? This morning we will begin to explore a few of these questions, which are questions regarding what the first century Christians called, Ecclesia (Church). Employing Acts 2:42 as our driving verse, we will consider how we might continue to grow as a vibrant congregation of faith empowered to share the love and message of Christ within our community and to the ends of the earth!
